OVERVIEW

Project 2024

Thank you for supporting our campaign benefitting Working Against Violence, Inc. in Rapid City! We nearly DOUBLED our fundraising goal of $8,000, with a grand total of $14,013 that went toward purchasing their shelter wish list items, wish list items for their partners in transitional housing & Pine Ridge Reservation, supplied over 1,000 bus tickets for survivors, catered dinner through Olive Garden for all residents, and supplied holiday gifts. We couldn't have done it without our Illuminators! For more info about the shelter, visit wavi.org

Following Project 2024, Illuminate makes an annual in-kind donation to WAVI in the amount of $500 per year.

2024 Nominee: Kyra

Kyra bravely submitted Working Against Violence, Inc., for consideration to be selected as our next Project.

“I contacted WAVI a few times back in 2017 when my previous relationship took a turn for the worst. I was a new mom, and terrified about what was happening to my family. The first time I called them, I spent most of the phone call crying, and the woman on the other end patiently waited without a single ounce of judgement. I was given resources, support, and encouragement.

Over the years, I have seen WAVI help so many people in my community. They help people who are going through unimaginable things and are compassionate while doing so, never making the victim feel like a burden. I am forever grateful for them, not only for the help they provided me but also for what they do for my community every day.”
